The Little Greek Taverna is nestled on the corner of Browning and Boundary Streets in inner city West End. On a weekend this little slice of Greece is usually packed with happy diners. With an extensive menu and the majority of main courses below $15, it is easy to understand the popularity of this restaurant.
The vibrant restaurant can get a little rowdy, but this only adds to its charm. Attentive and friendly staff were eager to help with recommendations. Upon walking in to the buzzing restaurant the vibe was warm and welcoming. My choice of chicken souvlaki and Greek salad was tasty and fresh. There is a wide range of options for those who have dietary requirements such as gluten free, dairy free and Halal meals.
After I finished my main course I treated myself to a serving of mouth-watering Turkish Delight. Although my sweet tooth thanked me for my choice, I had a slight case of food envy when my companion began enjoying her $4 Galaktombouriko, a hearty serving of baked custard enclosed in filo pastry drizzled with honey. After having a taste, I can't wait to return and have a slice all to myself.
It is a rarity to find a place where you can get a drink, a beautiful meal and a scrumptious dessert for a little over $20. However, the secret is well and truly out and it is best to book before visiting The Little Greek Taverna as it is a hotspot in West End.
