Climb to the top of the heritage-listed Kangaroo Point Cliffs and you'll be greeted by a pretty stunning outlook. It takes a few minutes to properly soak up the spectacular view of sprawling city skyscrapers, the lush botanic gardens and flowing river. But, lets face it, an amazing scene won't ease that rumbling in your tummy or quench your thirst. It is the combination of a picturesque location and platefuls of pleasing food that make this spot a Brisbane gem.
Although the cafe does not take reservations, there are plenty of tables that all access the gorgeous city view. The atmosphere is buzzing and after a bit of musical chairs to try and find the best seat in the house, we settled in for our lunch. There are plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options such as the sticky pork belly salad with chilli caramel and toasted peanuts, asian glass noodles and fresh coriander ($17.9). A fresh option that will fill you up but won't weigh you down, the pork belly salad is a great choice. For a hefty hunger that needs satisfying ASAP, the grilled porterhouse steak sandwich, slow cooked tomatoes, wild rocket, béarnaise aioli and beer battered chips ($19.5) will do the trick.
Although there is no dessert menu, the Cliffs Cafe's cabinet is full of cakes and slices. Try the New York mud cake ($6.8) or better yet, the brownie ($6.8). The heated brownie was filled with delicious pockets of oozing molten chocolate.
Cliffs Cafe also offer a sunset menu with sharing cheese and antipasto platters. It is a perfect after work location that is just a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD. For the fitness fanatics out there, spend the afternoon rock climbing the steep cliffs or jogging along the river before rewarding yourself with a delightful meal.
Spectacular views and food to match, along with a happy atmosphere makes Cliffs Cafe a great spot to take friends who are visiting, or Brisbane dwellers keen to soak in the sights of our fabulous city.
