After some mild flooding on the Australia Day weekend, Riverbar and Kitchen is back up and running, full steam ahead. Since opening late last year the new waterfront establishment has been a serious crowd-pleaser with its laidback, nautical vibe.
With Matt Moranís name connected to it, some have expected Riverbar to be another of his fine dining ventures, but it is in fact a place to sit back and relax in a chilled out environment enjoying tasty food at very affordable prices. Open seven days a week for breakfast lunch and dinner, it is the perfect spot to pop in for a pre or post work meal, or to head with friends and family on the weekend.
The breakfast menu is simple yet satisfying, with light quick meals such as fruit salad, bircher muesli and sourdough toast; or the heartier meals like the zucchini fritters with poached egg or croque monsieur Ė delicious! For the rest of the day you can choose between tasty bar snacks like the seared kingfish, fresh oysters and prawns, and the sinful sand crab slider. Their pizzas are the perfect meal for sharing and the salads are fresh and original. The main menu offers a selection of high end pub-style meals featuring a steak sandwich, beer battered flat head, and a wood roasted lamb shoulder to share.
All of this food needs to be washed down with some serious beverages, and serious they are. The cocktails are unique and delicious. The Pinky & Mo is a refreshing blend of Havana rum, pink grapefruit, mint and sugar. Peru y chile sour is their version of the pisco sour with muddled pineapple and coriander. Terribly drinkable. Their jugs are another fantastic option for sharing with a classic Pimms option, a pirate-appropriate rum punch and inventive mixes like the pomegranate and basil margarita.
Whatever the occasion, for a drink or a meal, Riverbarís vibe is fun with a bustling atmosphere and an incredible fit out representing all things nautical but nice.
